LOS ANGELES, CA— Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Reginald (Reggie) Jones-Sawyer, announced his campaign today for California’s new 59th Assembly District. The new 59th Florence-Graham District includes many of the same neighborhoods in the former 48th Assembly District.
“I’m running for State Assembly to generate more rapid job growth, and develop new strategies on how to fix California’s struggling economy,” said Jones- Sawyer. “Now is the time—more than ever—for leaders in California to come together and focus on new solutions to get us out of this tough economy, and when I go to Sacramento, I want to help lead this movement.”
“I want to bring my extensive background of working in local government and building partnerships between labor and businesses to the State Legislature so that we can develop new strategies on how to create more jobs,” added Jones-Sawyer.
Jones-Sawyer brings a unique blend of experience and accomplishments in business, labor, and civil rights to his campaign in the 59th Assembly District.
He currently serves as Director of Asset Management for the City of Los Angeles, Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Board Member of Los Angeles County’s Small Business Commission, and Vice President of the Los Angeles Professional Managers Association (affiliated with SEIU Local 721).
His history of public service includes serving as former Chair of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles.
