LOS ANGELES, CA— Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry announced her endorsement today of Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Reginald (Reggie) Jones-Sawyer, in his campaign for California’s new 59th Assembly District. Today’s endorsement comes only a few weeks after Jones-Sawyer officially announced his candidacy for the vacant seat.
“I’m pleased to endorse Reggie Jones-Swyer, because I know that he’ll work hard to rebuild California’s economy and create more much needed jobs,” said Councilwoman Perry.
“I am deeply gratified to have the support of such a prominent leader backing my campaign for Assembly,” said Jones-Sawyer. “Throughout her career, Councilwoman Perry has served her constituents well, and it is a true honor to be able to count her as one of my top supporters.”
The new 59th Florence-Graham District includes many of the same neighborhoods in the former 48th Assembly District.
Jones-Sawyer currently serves as Director of Asset Management for the City of Los Angeles, Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Board Member of Los Angeles County’s Small Business Commission, and Vice President of the Los Angeles Professional Managers Association (affiliated with SEIU Local 721). His history of public service includes formerly serving as Chair of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles.
