LOS ANGELES, CA—Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Reginald (Reggie) Jones-Sawyer, has been picking up steam in his bid to fill California’s new 59th Assembly seat with today’s announcement that State Senator Alex Padilla has thrown his full support behind him.
“Reggie Jones-Sawyer’s extensive background of working side-by-side with the business and labor communities in order to solve tough problems is exactly the kind of pragmatic approach that we need to fix our state,” said Senator Padilla. “We need legislators with a proven track record of bringing people together if we plan to fix our state’s struggling economy and create more jobs, and that’s why I’m please to endorse Reggie for Assembly.”
“It is an honor to have the backing of Senator Alex Padilla in my campaign for State Assembly,” said Jones-Sawyer. “And, I look forward to working with him in Sacramento to create more desperately needed jobs and get California’s economy back on track.”
Earlier this week, Jones-Sawyer won the support of Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry.
The new 59th Florence-Graham District includes many of the same neighborhoods in the former 48th Assembly District.
Jones-Sawyer currently serves as Director of Asset Management for the City of Los Angeles, Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Board Member of Los Angeles County’s Small Business Commission, and Vice President of the Los Angeles Professional Managers Association (affiliated with SEIU Local 721). His history of public service includes formerly serving as Chair of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles.
